The Giant Fathom 29 is a trail-focused hardtail mountain bike designed for riders who want a responsive, capable and dependable bike for off-road riding. Its ALUXX SL-grade aluminium frame provides a strong foundation, while the 29-inch wheel platform offers stability and efficient rollover across varied terrain.

As a hardtail, the Fathom uses front suspension without a rear shock. This keeps the design relatively simple while allowing the rider to benefit from suspension when riding over rocks, roots and rough sections of trail.

130mm Front Suspension

The Giant Crest 34 RCL suspension fork provides 130mm of travel, giving the Fathom 29 useful capability for technical trail riding.

The fork uses a Boost 15 x 110mm front axle and 44mm offset, while the ALUXX SL frame uses a 12 x 148mm rear thru-axle. This provides a modern wheel and frame platform suited to more demanding trail riding.

The Fathom also features a Giant Contact Switch dropper post with handlebar remote control. Lowering the saddle on descents gives the rider greater freedom of movement and makes it easier to position the body over challenging terrain.

Shimano CUES 1×10 Drivetrain

The Shimano CUES 1×10 drivetrain keeps the Fathom’s gearing straightforward while providing a broad range for climbing and trail riding.

The Shimano CUES 30T crankset works with an 11-48T cassette, giving riders a useful selection of climbing gears without the additional complexity of a front derailleur.

Hydraulic Brakes and High-Volume Tyres

Tektro HDM 275 hydraulic disc brakes provide controlled braking performance with 180mm rotors. The hydraulic setup is well suited to the Fathom’s trail-oriented design.

Giant AM 29 tubeless-ready rims have a 30mm internal width and are paired with Maxxis Minion DHF 29 x 2.5 WT tyres at the front and Maxxis Aggressor 29 x 2.5 WT tyres at the rear.

This high-volume tyre setup provides useful grip and control when riding on loose and uneven surfaces.
